Augustine Classical Strings, since 1946
Danish luthier Albert Augustine was the inventor of the nylon classical string as we know today. Working in New York, his colaboration with master guitarist Andrés Segovia led to the much awaited replacement of sheep gut in 1948.
The first strings produced by Augustine were the Black label sets (light tension basses with medium tension trebles). Segovia initially played these sets for many years, but then later moved to the Imperial/Red sets (medium tension basses with high tension trebles).
TMA Benelux has been the exclusive distributor for Augustine Classical Strings since the early nineties. With the recent extension of the range with Imperial sets (high tension trebles) and Regal sets (extra high tension trebles) now Augustine is the answer to any classical guitar player's needs.
